Aloft Australia’s jagged coastline, wracked with dynamic winds and reflecting the ocean’s everchanging scape, this home encapsulates a growing family in comfort and seclusion.
With handcrafted timber windows and doors, Australian hardwood cladding, suspended off form concrete and galvanized steel this project demanded an extensive skill set due to its extreme environment.
Using shipbuilding techniques, tried joints and connections and construction methods of old, a timeless building was carved into the rugged landscape complementing its wild terrain.
Of note, this project required a level 1 comprehensive drainage and sewer system to be excavated and installed while not impacting its environment, with precision and skill the Jason Miles Builder team precariously demolished the existing building, excavated and completed all inground works and embarked on the new project with 1m between neighbouring buildings either side.
In a highly populated location, privacy was of the utmost importance. A landscape offering solace was created in this unique location as the Jason Miles Builder team crafted sunken terrains, a boutique pool, raised garden beds and privacy screens that seamlessly integrated into the fauna providing visual barriers from neighbouring properties while retaining their own beauty
We love working with our clients to create interiors! So many of our clients have natural talent with interior design, and to work alongside them to create their dream is always a pleasure ….. this project was no exception. With subtle curves and an appreciation for natural materials our client stepped away from mass manufactured finishes and leaned into the world of hand-crafted concrete, natural stone, living brass, traditional pottery basins, soft forms, and uniquely tactile textures that made this project its own installation.
This project is an elegant creation from Alex Urena and was a privilege to construct.
